GIANT Cookie Exchange
Based on our scientific polling of all nearby weight scales, the GIANT Cookie Exchange was a great hit! But don’t think it’s just me saying it, a picture is worth 1,000 calories!
Fuerte abrazo to all who contributed and those who consumed!

The RAMADA – yes that RAMADA – has CURTAINS!!!
Many thanks to Doug Fox (and Heidi!) for installing these curtains! It looks cooler, way cooler, than it is and definitely was before it had curtains!

Hi Neighbors!
The Ramada Room looks so good after today’s clean up. Thank you to each and every one who helped clean, organize and socialize this morning. (And the moral support from those who couldn’t make it!) Thank you for the donuts and coffee and cleaning supplies and your ideas! Big thanks for the shop vacuum and shampoo machine… What a difference some time and a little elbow grease make!
Here’s some of the things we accomplished:
Refrigerator. CLEAN.
Cabinets. CLEAN.
Walls. CLEAN.
Outdoor chairs and tables. CLEAN.
Indoor chairs and tables. CLEAN.
Pool Pump Room. CLEAN.
Pool toy chest. CLEAN.
Did we mention the fridge??? CLEAN!
And thanks for the million tiny things that I don’t even know about!
We’re so happy with how it looks! If you have any energy left let’s meet up at 4:30 and RELAX for a practice “Dip and Sip”.
Very casual. Bring something to drink and hang out. The tablecloths are on the table and so are the baked potatoes! IYKYK!
Now for a nap…but first the pictures
Kick-off: Wednesday 22, 2024 CE
We had 12 people who met at the Ramada last night for the Committee kickoff and we came up with a lot of ideas! The attendees have lived at SVC between 10 months and 27 years, and it was a wonderful mix of neighbors. Here are some of the things we discussed and planned:
Ideas R Us
- A clean up day is planned for TOMORROW, Saturday, May 25 from 8-11 am at the Ramada Room and the pool. Bring cleaning supplies! I have a good glass cleaner, bucket and towels to bring. Sam has generously offered his commercial carpet cleaner. (Muchas Gracias, Sam). Kelly is going to show us how she has safely cleaned the pool tiles without gunk or chemicals. (And it is not pumice!) Thank you, Kelly! DONE DONE DONE
- Lending library – once the ramada is clean, we plan to have books and puzzles (complete sets, please) available. Stay tuned!
- A standing invite for every Thursday for a “Dip and Sip”! Bring your own beverage and snacks and hang out with your neighbors. Let’s tentatively shoot for 4-6 and see if that works. See you next Thursday at the ramada/pool area for the inaugural Dip and Sip!
- SVC Marketplace – we’re going old school with flyers tacked to a bulletin board of items residents have for sale or free. The flyers will eventually be located in the ramada room.
- #ASKING We have a few needs for the ramada room if anyone has these items: bulletin board, a clean and working refrigerator, curtains, blinds, films and bamboo blinds (Hi Holly!). Possibly another bookshelf for our future lending library?
- There is a lot of interest in having a pickleball court! Kathy’s friend has knowledge about doing this and has graciously offered to research the cost and other details for SVC. (Thank you, Kathy!)
- Roberto knows of a game called Inverted Tennis. (Apparently a player scores points when they miss hitting the ball back to the other player?) More to come.
Thank YOU
I appreciate everyone’s input and I’m excited for the next plan – which is tomorrow for cleanup day at the Ramada room! You don’t have to stay the entire time, just pop in and say hello! Moral support is always appreciated.
If you have any questions, please contact Dusty.
